Ok, I have to say this first; exploring a new eat during a diet is such a horrible idea because everything on the list sounds so deeeeee'lish, and talk about "OVERBOARD" when it comes time to order. haha Alright it's not that bad but close enough. Today, my good friend Nic took Susi and I to a place call The Shack, in East Sacramento. If you don't drive the speed limit or slower, seriously you'll miss this little hole in the wall on the corner of 52nd and Folsom.
It's a tiny little building hidden behind what I like to call mini palm trees. If you're not careful you could miss the building and the turn all together. Looking at the building from the outside, you can tell this place has history. The wood grain has cracks from years of abuse from our dear mother nature. If the walls can speak, I'm sure it'll share all it's secret with us. The paint and it's color whether new or old fits the mood and tempo of this place. If this was several years ago, I wouldn't have step a foot into this place for fear of cock roach infested kitchen, unclean tables and chairs. But thankfully, I have grown to appreciate and trust hole in the wall type places. As this is where most good eats are discovered.
So what was the order today? We started with beer batter onion ring. YUM! The onion rings were huge and hot off the fryer. It's definitely worth the $$. For the main meal I had the Shack Burger. It's a 1/3 pounder burger cooked to your liking with steak fries. When I saw that it was steak fries. I thought "oh man, hands down, this will be the shit!" Something about steak fries that touches the bottom of my guts. LOL Even the red clown's (McDonald) can't beat that kind of love. ha! The star of the show, "the Shack" was most delicious. I'm not a burger virgin, nor am I a burger guru but I've been down that road o'plenty of times, and this place serves up a nice patty. It's like a cross between the Red Bird and the Squeeze. Thick, juicy, cheesey, and mmm so yummy. It's the perfect ending to a lunch. The only unfortunate part of this new find is, I was in a total rush to eat and leave. LAME! So definitely next time, I'll have to visit when I have more time. Next time I think I'll try the ruben, heard it's pretty good. :)
P.S. on another note... I only ate half my burger and some steak fries and was already full. So proud of myself that I didn't slam down that whole burger. URGH otherwise I would be kicking myself in the butt right now with eater's remorse.
Great description! If I hadn't been there grubbing with you, I would definitely be full from the yummy description! :)
